Slick just joined our household only a few short hours ago. He slipped through a hole in the window frame (since the window was open).
Right now he is in a Nature Discovery kit (I'd say about a 1-gallon container, plastic with small breathing holes in the back). It was meant for the capture and study of small insects.
He has a small cardboard tube for privacy (which he has been using as a toy).
Will this work for a couple of days until we can get him into his real home? I have a five gallon aquarium with locking lid, I just need to find it.
Slick's got some personality on him already. He has a habit of looking at me, and then when I look at him, he ducks back. I will turn my head and then when I look towards him, he ducks back again. It's like hes the one studying me. Really cool in a creepy kinda way.

Re: Slick's temporary home
Fri, June 24, 2005 - 5:53 PMA snake's basic requirements are a place to hide, water to drink, clean bedding, warm enough temperatures (though not too warm -- we're talking about garter snakes here) and an escape-proof cage. The cage should also be large enough for the snake to stretch out: as a rule of thumb, the snake should not be longer than the length plus width of the cage.
